Bernard II, Duke (Stem Duchy of Saxony) : All Data
Bernard II, Duke of Saxony, ruled over the Stem Duchy of Saxony from 1031 to 1051. During his tenure, he faced significant conflicts, including the Great Saxon Revolt of 1042-1043 and the Polish-German War of 1050-1051. The Great Saxon Revolt, led by Otto of Nordheim, aimed to challenge Bernard's authority and restore the independence of the Saxon nobility. The Polish-German War, on the other hand, was a territorial dispute between Bernard and the Polish ruler Casimir I, resulting in border skirmishes and territorial exchanges. Despite these challenges, Bernard II managed to maintain his rule over Saxony and navigate through these turbulent times.
